Technical Training

WV Wood Technology Center offers Technical Training classes for individuals & businesses. Some of the classes offered include Epilog Laser Engraving, CNC Programming, NHLA Lumber Grading Short Courses, and many others. We customize training to meet the needs of your business.

Pre-Apprentice Plumbing

This course offers students an opportunity to see what entering the plumbing trade entails. It includes a basic introduction to residential plumbing.


Pre-Apprentice Construction Training

This course offers students an opportunity to see what entering the construction trade entails. It begins with OSHA 10 Construction training, instruction in basic carpentry, and provides hands-on experience.


GetReady Hardwood Manufacturing Technician

In partnership with RCHA’s WORC Program, this 2-week course provides safety training, forklift training, and machine basics to those interested in working in the hardwood industry. Contact WORC at 304-636-6495 x 39 to register.


Moulder Setup & Operation

This class gives students an overview of working with a moulder. It includes an explanation of the machinery, the basics of lock-out/tag-out procedures, tooling, use of a cutterhead mounting system, and the importance of precision measurement.


NHLA Lumber Grading Short Course

This 4-day course includes a thorough study and explanation of the NHLA Rules Book, emphasizing the basics of hardwood lumber inspection.


Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) Training

This course covers forklift design, controls and instrumentation, comprehensive pre-use inspection, and forklift stability and factors affecting stability. It includes hands-on training and demonstration of proficiency.


Epilog Laser Engraving with CorelDraw

Introductory course to learn artwork setup, and laser setup and operation. Students work with a variety of materials and processes.


CNC Tooling

CNC Programming and Operation, with V-Carve Pro

This course provides 40 hours of training on our V-Carve Pro (Computer Aided Drafting) systems and CNC (Computer Numeric Control) programming. Students will learn how a CNC router can benefit their business or woodworking skills.


Pre-Apprentice Foundation/Masonry

This 5-day course offers students an opportunity to see what the masonry trade entails.  It includes hands-on training in basic residential masonry.
